Glory to God

25 years ago today, March 7th 2001, my uncle passed at only 41. I think about him a lot and how much he has missed over the years. His death set off a chain reaction to where I lost my grandpa 6 months later, he couldn’t handle my uncle’s death and drank himself to death at only 66. He drank himself into a stupor when my grandma passed Christmas Eve 1987 when she was only 51. That’s a story for another time of why God doesn’t call us to drink alcohol.

My best friend passed a few months after that at only 21. I’ve experienced a lot of deaths over the years, more than most people.

May 5th when I was 4 years old started what would be a childhood full of it, my great grandfather (papa) and great great grandmother (ma) died that day. It was like she knew before anyone could notify her that he was found gone and she went to him instead. What a reunion that must have been. He gets to meet Jesus and turns around and his mom is standing there.

But even with all the sadness that comes with each one throughout the years I know Jesus’s words and I’ve put them in my heart and trust that someday soon I will be reunited with those who also put their trust in him.

That’s the key though, those who put their trust in him

We will only get to experience God's grace and glory if we truly put our trust in Him and believe wholeheartedly that He sent His son to die on the cross for our sins. We have to believe in His blood covers us and truly attempt to live our lives for Him. He doesn't tell us to go out and sin and think we'll be okay because we're "nice" and "good" people. No. He tells us to go and sin no more.

I pray those that I love that have passed away had a heart after His. I pray they knew His words and I pray they had a relationship with Him. Someday very soon His promise to us of taking death and pain and tears away will become a reality and we will finally be together for all eternity. I pray my uncle knew him, he did not grow up in a Christian home, but he did join a Christian weight lifting group towards the end of his life so all I can do is hope and trust that he took it all to heart and gave his life over to God before the end.

Have you given your heart to Christ? We are not promised tomorrow. Are you living for Christ at this moment? What did you do today? Did it glorify God? Do you still have grudges or unforgiveness in your heart instead of the love of Christ? Have you talked to Him today or been in His word?

If you honestly want to know Him better it all starts in His word and in your heart. Let Him show you the way to Him through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Just remember that we all have a direct line to Him, so call on Him today, He's waiting for you.
