Jesus Commands Us

Seems like a simple command right? But, what about that person who is just a tad bit aggressive towards you no matter what?

Several years ago I had that kind of person come into my life.

From the very beginning she was very fake, manipulative and very much was playing a victim. She was married, but seeing someone other than her spouse, red flags were flying all over, not with just this, but with attitude and personality as well. I will always stand by that God will never send you someone else's spouse especially when there are children involved. She did not care for that thought process, but how you treat others tells a lot about who you really are.

I also made the mistake of telling her no once and she threw an object at me. Things escalated from there, she has thrown things at me twice, screamed several times, ripped a washcloth out of my hand from behind me so forcefully I didn’t know what was happening at first, she has also tried to hit me with a car 3 times. Could these things be considered assault? Absolutely. Would that be the right way to handle the situation though?

Proverbs 9:7-8 anyone who rebukes a mocker will get an insult in return. Anyone who corrects the wicked will get hurt. So don’t bother correcting mockers; they will only hurt you. But correct the wise, and they will love you.

I have tried sending her and her new spouse cards throughout the years, bought presents only to have them returned, one of the cards was returned with a condescending note. I did not do these things as a way to extend an olive branch but to maybe open a line of communication.

Last time I had to interact with her she yelled at me not to speak to her so communication is never going to be a possibility with her. Her personality and attitude are not something I can condone and just say it is what it is, let her have her way and there won't be issues. I know others have said this about her, but that does not make it right. Is that how Jesus really wants us to be?

God does not call us to mistreat others, or to bulldoze over others to have selfish gain. He calls us to be Christlike and have a loving heart towards others.

So that brings it back to how do you love someone with that much anger, bitterness and resentment inside of them?

It's very obvious there are some self-esteem issues there. I also know the aggression and obvious anger that she has is not directed at me personally. She can be downright rude at times with others. I saw it first hand how she treats nurses at a hospital. So what is going on deep down in her that needs to be brought to God.

Psalm 34:4 I prayed to the Lord and He answered me. He freed me from all my fears.

God does not call us to control others or situations. He calls us to put our faith in Him. He wants us to ask Him each and every single day to have control over our lives. We have to lay everything before Him so He can handle it. We cannot handle anything ourselves.

What in our lives have we really done on our own? God has been behind us every step of the way even if we do not realize it. He may not like our choices or attitudes but He is still with us. He will never stop loving us no matter how far away we stray from Him.

But, guess what? He will always forgive us and He will always welcome us home. Just like that prodigal son.

Psalm 34:5 those who look to Him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces.

With lots of prayer, patience and turning the other cheek to give them the other like Jesus says, I hope one day that the sin and turmoil that is inside her will be given over to God and there will be repentance and forgiveness. Once someone has a heart that is directed at Christ that person will become a completely different person than what they once were.

So until that happens, for now, Jesus’s command of love one another will be done from afar and in prayer and that’s okay, I just hope one day she can see that all I want for her is the best and that only is found in Christ alone.

And always remember you have a direct line to Him anytime of day, so start that relationship with Him right now. Do not wait. We do not know the day or the hour of His coming, but we do know it is soon. The signs are all there, we just have to have eyes that see and ears that listen. Do not miss the boat like in the days of Noah. Noah was telling them up until the doors shut and they did not listen. The same will be for the rapture. Do not be left behind because of a poor attitude towards others. Love Christ and the love for others will fall into place.

       "My Why" By Matthew West:

Be in this world not of it
Follow Jesus, not the crowd
Be light wherever it looks dark
And love where hate is loud
Make every day's ambition
Be to make my Father proud
That's my why

Greet every day with gratitude
Be humble and be kind
See the path in front of you
And leave the past behind
Between grudges and forgiveness
Choose forgiveness every time
Yeah that's my why

Knowing my Jesus and making Him known
Following Him where He calls me to go
And running this race knowing I'm running home
Every day of my life
That's my why
I'm fixing my eyes on a heavenly prize
So if anyone asks yeah that's my why

That's my why

Lay my life down for my family
But always stand up for my faith
Let my actions speak louder than the words I say
And live like I'm dying till my dying day
Oh that's my why

Oh
Knowing my Jesus and making Him known
Following Him where He calls me to go
And running this race knowing I'm running home
Every day of my life
That's my why
I'm fixing my eyes on a heavenly prize
So if anyone asks yeah that's my
Why I'm living
Why I'm breathing
Lord remind me why heart is beating
Why I'm living
Why I'm breathing
Lord remind me why heart is beating

And when I cross that finish line and my race has been run
May the reasons why I lived my life come down to just this one
To look into my Father's eyes and hear Him say "Well done"

Yeah
That's my why

Oh knowing my Jesus and making Him known
(Making Him known)
Following Him where He calls me to go
And running this race knowing I'm running home
Every day of my life
That's my why
I'm fixing my eyes on a heavenly prize
So if anyone asks yeah that's my

Why I'm living
(Why I'm living)
Why I'm breathing
(Why I'm breathing)
Lord remind me why my heart is beating

Why I'm living
Why I'm breathing
Yeah
If anyone asks
Yeah
That's my why
